An Anniversary year of Innovation, Celebration and Remembrance. Chase and Lushus went into the year with ferocity and finesse. The year was filled with goals and dreams as well as endeavors not yet seen in The Imperial Court. Hot off the heels of Reign 39 and the scramble for venues in which to cater to shows and fundraising, the resilient duo had their work cut out for them. The first goal was a rule - NO DRAMA, the second was HAVE FUN and the third was MAKE HISTORY. Taking on a new concept of Adopt a Monarch being onset from the start, each of the Royal Family had adopted and partnered with a College of Monarch for the entire year, in order to learn the past and go forward to help form the future of this great organization. Chase and Lushus remained true to the crown through many hardships such as the 100 year flood taking out most of the Northern realm for over 2 weeks, the passing of The Absolute Empress 1 Mama Jose Sarria, Prince Royale 17 James Nash and Princess Royale 14 Raye Bobian, Emperor 24 Jeff Clark , Empress 30 Greta B. Quick, and Reign 40’s own Count Bryan McKay.
Into the reign we saw newer, bigger venues and successful events, partnered with new patrons and ideas. Mayor Michael Hancock was a huge supporter from the beginning as well as Governor John Hickenlooper. Investiture 40 “When you wish upon a star” was the beginning of the Fairytale themed year; a huge success at Hamburger Mary’s. Following great fundraising events at Eden for “In the Garden of Eden” Touch of Class and the All Boys Show combined was bountiful in monies raised as well as the new “bottle raffle fiasco” where bars were not allowing liquor baskets for raffle/auction items. “Hansel and Gretel - Let them eat candy” Decades show would be the last appearance of Decade Empress 30 Greta B. Quick and a night to be remembered.
Snow Ball 40 “A Night of Fantasy and Seduction” at Tracks Nightclub is one for the history books. Harkening back on our history as a huge gala event reborn; a huge room filled with crystal and pillars and decadence, we saw a flashback of the Carousel Ball tradition “Masks of the Ball” with the winner being live auctioned on stage. The production numbers by the Emperor and Empress were that of modern vaudeville and burlesque. Absolut Vodka sponsoring the VIP tables and event were nothing short of the performances and dressed to the 9s crowd. When all was said and done, through monetary donations, raffle, door admission, table reservations and most of all product given to the charity of the evening Urban Peak - the evening raised over $20,000. A feat never matched in I.C.R.M.E. history.
Fast forward to another milestone, Prince and Princess Royale Ball “The Evil Princess and the Huntsman - a dark evening of fun and fantasy” was the beginning of "Coronation Forty Once Upon a Time" with a full story line that had an interactive magic mirror narrating throughout and eventually killing the Empress on stage! Beloved by all, Prince and Princess Royale 40 Richard Brendlinger and Gabriella But’zin gave commemorative pins to their guests of the packed ballroom and stepped down in style and with great success.
"Forty Once Upon a Time" weekend in full swing with new twists on the historical weekend left behind the bus tour of past and gave the “coach rides” one destination, the entire Hamburger Mary’s Complex for an 80’s Prom with food, fun, sound and memories of a Fairytale 80’s Prom! This was also open to the public as the entire weekend was a benefit for Rainbow Alley centers for youth. Coronation night was picked up where PR Ball had left off with the Empress being brought in by paul bearers in a glass casket being narrated again by the magic mirror and an opening production number by College of Cardinal members. The night was full of surprises and out of town royalty from far and wide. Set inside Palais de 40 and ready to usher in a new era, one of the biggest surprises of the evening was when Mayor John Hickenlooper joining their most on stage spoke to the masses and the second surprise was during crowning when the College of Monarchs parted down the middle on stage to reveal the new monarchs and Reign 40 “Let it Go”. Chase and Lushus are proud of their achievements, ideas, goals and dreams; with their final numbers for the reign over $100,000 raised. The duo remains the Romance of the Rockies; well loved, achieved and they lived... happily ever after.

The Legendary Crystal Court in the Hall of Justice. Renewing the promise of C.H.E.E.R. (Chariity, Honor, Education, Equality and Respect) April 4, 2015 The Legend of the Crystal Sugar Skull
Guardian of the Crystal Attributes of Empresses The 1st Elected Gypsy Emperor of the Rockies Emperor XLI Caeri Mancini The Perspective of The Crystal The Neon Pink Fairy of the Nightshade Moon Empress XLI Melissa Nawrocki Roberts |
Caeri, being of true Rom (Gypsy) heritage, and traveling around the U.S., happening upon Coronations elsewhere around the country; being involved with the Krewes of Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Caeri came into the Imperial Court scene with I.C.R.M.E. after moving to Denver. During Reign 39 he was asked by Ken Bazan, Emperor 39, to be his Prince Royale and this set him on the road to being elected Emperor 41 of I.C.R.M.E. Melissa had always been a straight ally of the GLBTQ community mainly through the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire and Gay Pride Pageantry. Melissa worked in many different aspects of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire building sets, running backrooms for shows, and anything else you can think of that needed to get done. She was Marquisa 31 under Empress 31 Kiki Monroe and as well Princess Royale 39 under Martini Monroe.
Melissa, after being elected Empress 41 became the first straight biological daughter of a past Empress within the Imperial Court System and the second cis-female to be elected Empress of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire. With the rising popularity of superhero movies and Caeri and Melissa’s love for superhero comics and the movies, they decided to involve Reign 41 completely around this idea since it never had been done before. King of Hearts was no longer an Emperors event thus Snowball was hosted by the Empress and Emperor (Babes in Toyland Gotham City), Coronation 42 ( Superhero Legends: A Night in the Hall of Justice) and other events incorporated the superhero theme as well.
Caeri and Melissa went into their Reign with a passion for community, education, recognition of the systematic abuse of children as well as Native Americans that are all but forgotten as members of the GLBTQ community. They focused on working and fundraising for the Denver’s Children Advocacy Center whose mission is to Prevent Abuse, Strengthen Families and Restore Childhood. Fundraising for the American Indian College Fund and local Native American groups. The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force among others and, holding community meetings once a month with the general public as well as bars and organizations to gather input about their wants and needs and, how the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire could help them work toward those goals. During their Reign they both worked extremely hard and diligently to regain working relationships with local organizations and individuals in the Denver community whether they were GLBT or straight supporters. We believe as our Reign came to an end, we were only hitting the tip of the iceberg and hoped we would be passing the torch to our successors.

As I sit here with the Massive Empress Gabbriella But’zin, we reminisce about our time as the reigning Monarchs of Denver.
We reigned together as Prince and Princess 40. Running for the office of Emperor and Empress was our next step to continue our fundraising journey.
We ran unopposed and were elected Emperor and Empress 42 of the Mountain Court System on April 4, 2015. The next morning at Victory Brunch, Charles Rozanski and LaShay DiMarco were appointed Prince and Princess Royale 42.
Wasting no time naming our lines of succession, Investitures was held 2 weeks later at Club M. Our lines of succession were as follows:
Grand Duke R.C. Michaels
Grand Duchess Vivian LeCher
Czar Aaron Riley
Czarina Andrea Star
Marquis Andrew Johnson
Marquessa Juana Man
Don Daniel Cocker
Reina Ladycat De’Ore
Baron Manny Sexton
Baroness Kitty Angel
Count Obi Obider
Countess Vida VanBuren LeCher
Ladies in waiting: Bella Couture LeCher & Betty Sparkles But’zin
Within the first 60 days, our reign raised over $10,000 for charity. The family came together to help at Free Comic Book day to raise money for White Rose Scholarship and were fortunate enough to entertain none other than the Incredible Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno, the night before Gabbie went Gamorra for the Cos-Play Pre-ComicCon party which also benefited White Rose.
During that time, we also attended Salt Lake City’s coronation. We were honored to travel with the first 40th year anniversary Empress 2, Scotti Carlye, and King Father to reign 42 Emperor 7, Gary Edwards. We attended along with members of our line Prince Royale 42 Charles Rozanski, Princess Royale 42 LaShay DiMarco, Grand Duke R.C. Michaels, Don Daniel Cocker, Brother to Emperor 42, Ron Atkinson, as well as Emperor 19 John Menchaca, Empress 39 Martini Monroe, Empress 41 Melissa Nawrocki, Prince Royale 41 Jim Babb, College of Cardinals Norrie Reynolds and MJ Rebelez.
On to Albuquerque’s Coronation. In contingency with us were family members Juana Man, Manny Sexton, Obi Sparkles, Ladycat De’Ore, and R.C. Michaels, along with College of Cardinal members Norrie Reynolds & Rodd with 2 D’s, I.C.R.M.E. members Jackie O and Tammy Brunette, and Monarchs Empress 2 Scotti Carlyle, Emperor 7 Gary Edwards, Emperor 13 Chuck Bates, Empress 17 Brittany Michaels, Emperor 18 Gregg Looker, Empress 24 Nina Montaldo and Empress 35 Jackie Summers. We returned to Denver to begin building our float for Pride. Our theme for the year was all about Steampunk, and our float certainly portrayed this with actual moving gears, incredible costumes and flawless decorations! At the conclusion of the parade, the family all went directly to the bar booth to begin our shift! Reign 41 was gracious enough to have had opened the booth that morning so we were able to enjoy the parade upon our float.
July was an extraordinary month of events beginning with PR Picnic, Cherry Creek Arts Festival, which was I.C.R.M.E.’s first year to have an oversized corner booth with slushies, booze and more! Next came Rodeo, we staffed not only the beer trailer but also a large booze booth, and like always it rained and we were running around in more than an inch of water! Gabbie was lucky enough to have missed out while she was in Omaha attending their coronation with Emperor 39 Ken Bazan, along with College of Cardinal members Cory Wells and MJ Rebelez.
July came to an end only to discover that a horrendous embezzlement had taken place for over 2 years amounting in over sixty thousand dollars lost. Both Gabbie and myself were completely destroyed. The cash that had been raised since the beginning of our reign was gone, our beneficiaries had not been paid, and we were now 25% into our reign. Gabbie sat down with Outfront, letting the community know what had happened, and how we needed their support then more than ever! The determination of Reign 42, along with the community, resulted in Reign 42 re-raising and making whole all of I.C.R.M.E.’s commitments. Reign 42 continued to fundraise for it’s chosen charities as well.
In September, Gabbie attended Des Moines coronation doing double duty not only as Empress 42, but also as the original recipient of the permanent title she received for the Denver Cycle Sluts during her time as their Queen Mother. Princess Royale 42, LaShay DiMarco, was also in attendance.
In October, our presence was requested by the Queen Mother and the ICS in Portland.
Several individuals from the College of Monarchs were in attendance to show their support for Reign 42. That included Empress 2 Scotti Carlyle, Emperor 5 Bill Olson, Emperor 7 Gary Edwards, Emperor 13 Chuck Bates, Emperor 19 John Menchaca, Empress 17\ Brittany Michaels, Empress 24 Nina Montaldo, Empress 29 Jazmine James, and Emperor 29 Robert Flores. Heir Apparent Empress 35 Jackie Summers was there as well. We were there to provide the entire ICS information on the embezzlement, how it happened, what financial safeguards were being taken to insure it could never happen again. We also attended Portland’s Coronation, which was held at the Art Museum. We had to get an Uber or Taxi to take us to the event. Well, my massive Empress was not happy when the Prius turned the corner. With much fan fair we shoved her into the tiny car and headed to Coronation. Upon arrival at the event Gabbie made the drive pull around the block so she could unpack from the car!
November came along to bring the Emperor & Empress ball which had become the combination the Empress’s SnowBall and Emperor’s King of Hearts, named “A Mechanical Wonderland”. We were fortunate enough to hold the ball at Exdo Events Center, our beneficiaries were Urban Peak and Freedom Service Dogs. The following weekend, Denver arrived in force to our daughter court in Colorado Springs where Gabbie was honored with a permanent title of “Benevolent and Inspiring Empress to UCPPE for life”
In December, my Empress attended Las Vegas’ coronation along with Princess Royale 42. That year Vegas had 9 members of the College of Monarchs that shared responsibilities for the past years reign. For the 1st time in several years, I.C.R.M.E. gave out crystal candy dishes instead of our trademark platters. Gabbie, as always, was in theme to coronation and received the “Best in Theme Female” award!
On January 1st, Emperor 42 along with Emperor 19 John Menchaca, Emperor and Empress 29 Robert Flores and Jazmine James went to celebrate Houston’s coronation. A fun-filled weekend ensued when Emperor and Empress 40 of the Pikes Peak Empire joined in the antics that ensued at all the strip clubs!
In February, Reign 42, along with Salt Lake City, hosted the Seattle In-Town show, raising money for Seattle’s Educational scholarship. Enjoying her 40th anniversary Empress 2 Scotti Carlyle, Emperor 7 Gary Edwards, Emperor 13 Chuck Bates and Empress 40 Lushus LaRell,, Price Royale 42 Charles Rozanski joined and Rena 42 Ladycat De’Ore in the festivities. Richard and Charles missed their flight and came in late, barely making it to the show. Lushus had another one of those only you girl moments, she hung her wig on the light blub of a mirror. We were all looking for the light switch to turn on the lights. We fond it and her wig melted like cheese on a burger!
We began to wrap up our year hosting those annual events such as Awards Banquet, Smack-A-Star, the In-Town show, the Seattle / Salt Lake show. Gabbie and Vida attended the last out of town coronation in Ft. Worth.
Our year ended with Coronation on April 26th, 2016…the opening of 2nd set the 42nd family provided a phenomenal rendition of Madonna’s MTV”s Vogue, 3 months of rehearsals paid off! Together Richard and I had one crazy ride as the Elected 42nd Monarchs. Even with all the difficulty we made our year something that we are both proud of!

As the elected monarchs of reign 43, we were excited to have opportunity to serve our community. After the initial pomp and circumstance of crowning had come to a close, the reality of our responsibilities set in and we began planning our year. Although we raised funds for various charities, our main focus was homeless adults at the Saint Francis Center, the youth of Rainbow Alley and Urban Peak. Leading with grace, compassion, and respect, we worked to build bridges with bars and businesses, the Latin community, and LGBT youth to encourage involvement. Learning to compromise and face the challenges before us contributed to our success. It was those challenges that helped us learn and grow, trust in ourselves and love each other.
One of our biggest accomplishments was the support of Rainbow Alley LGBT youth. The Center provides a drop in program with many activities for gay youth, a safe environment where students can thrive without judgement, a place to make friends and develop a comradery, and share their life stories with those who have similar struggles. We were each presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award for our support and monetary contributions that benefited Rainbow Alley youth. In addition, we visited and spoke with a group of GSA students at one of the local colleges, providing them information about our organization and extending invitations for them to attend ICRME events. We also solicited sponsorship for students to attend the events at no cost to them. We were very pleased to see so many young people in attendance, feeling comfortable with whom they are.
Our line of succession was most valuable in helping us succeed in our mission to make our community a better place. We worked together as a team, exchanging ideas for ways to make fundraising fun and enjoyable for all. A heart felt thank you to Pablo Chavira, Alexandria Douglas, Abraham Sanchez, Sofelya Amor, Drew Juarez, Isaias Ramirez, Angel Sexton, LaLa Shearz, Anna Rexik, Josh Estvez, Alanna Filipina, Geoffrey LeCher, Cierra Mota LeCher, Prince Royale Bryan Monroe, and Princess Royale Jackie O.
Grand Duke Geoffrey LeCher, Grand Duchess Cierra Mota LeCher, Prince Royale Bryan Monroe, Princess Royale Jackie O, were awarded permanent titles and inducted into the College of Cardinals for their outstanding service during reign 43.
We traveled to many coronations making a number of friends along the way and will treasure those memories in our hearts forever. We are truly blessed to have had the opportunities that being monarchs affords. We have become part of a family like no other.
Surrounded by a fire winged angel, a white tiger, flowers and vines, we celebrated An Enchanted Night in the Garden Royalty, bringing our final night as reigning monarchs to a magical conclusion. We extend our thanks to the College of Monarchs, College of Cardinals and our community for their love and support during our reign.

The 44th reign saw the election of one of Denver’s favorite Party Girls, Miss Rosa Marie Sugarbaker! It also year that we saw the need for a regent Emperor. There were 3 viable candidates that had ran for the position and it was Jon “Crunchy” Crenshaw that was crowned that night. The first of the “Closet Club” to be crowned. As soon as the New monarchs were crowned it was time to start “the PARTY” and one of the focuses of the reign was to have fun while doing the job we loved so much. Music was a big theme throughout the reign with theming many of our events from Disco to Pop to Doo Wop and Rock.
During the 44th Reign, The Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire was honored by Out Front Colorado at the Power GALA Awards as, “Non-Profit of the Year.” We also had the opportunity to donate auction items and raise funds for I.C.R.M.E. The funds from the auction items, raised $4000.00 for I.C.R.M.E General Fund.
Another highlight of the year was for the Pride Parade Rosa and Jon wanted to honor all the reigns before us as. For the first time the ICRME Float was led down the Parade route by all the reigns representative banners many carried by our local youth and members of the past reigns.
The PR’s Proved to be just as strong as the monarchs with some very successful events as well. They hosted the Annual PR Picnic and were able to give the Court a new Permanent Grill for use of every year. There James Bond Music Themed Black Tie Affair raised great money for the Freedom Service Dogs Rosa Presented Snowball, “A Boogie Wonderland” at the Timbers Hotel Benefiting Jefferson County CASA. A night of Wintery Disco Fun! Jon Presented King of Hearts, A Musical Explosion, Boy Bands verses Pop Divas! At the Double Tree Stapleton North benefiting the White Rose Scholarship Foundation.
Coronation Weekend was held at the Renaissance Hotel. It was a musical party weekend Starting on Friday Night with PR Ball, “American Bandstand.” Coronation 45 was “A Disco Affair at Studio 54”. In keeping with the Studio 54 Coronation theme, ticket prices were $54.00. The Ball was also done in the round. AS the stage was set in the middle of the ball room and the guest sat around it. Both PR Ball and Coronation were standing room only when the balls began. Proceeds from Coronation benefited CASA.
Reign 44 Imperial Family all worked very hard to help make the reign a success - Count 44 Scott Alexander, Countess 44 Amelia Storm.
